We don’t normally get involved in politics but the UK governments recent budget announcement of a VAT at 20 per cent will be added to take-away hot food – including chicken rotisserie, sausage rolls and pies – sold at fast-food restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets means that Cornwalls national dish, the centre of its cultural identity, the traditional street food of Cornwall, the ancient mining food of our forefathers will be TAXED. Your average Oggy will cost at least 50p more. That’s an extra £10.50 a week to some of us. £42 a month added to our pasty bill?! £504 a year to eat our own national dish! THIS IS SIMPLY CRIMINAL. It must be stopped before 20,000 of us have to march on London again..
